Macarena Gordillo de Paz

I have a Degree in Art History from the Autonomous University of Madrid, a Diploma of Teaching from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Postgraduate in Methodology of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Barcelona. Also I am certified examiner of the Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) for Basic, Waystage, Intermediate and Advanced levels.

I have been teaching Spanish as a foreign language for many years for beginners to advanced, designing courses with motivating topics on language and culture. Since I started teaching I have felt it very important to introduce not only the language, but also culture to my students. I have done this by using my knowledge of art and art history to add another dimension to my classes. It is very important not to separate language from culture.

I am in the process of writing a textbook to teach Spanish through Hispanic Art. I make reference to artworks and artists such as Goya, Velázquez, Picasso, Gaudí, Frida Kahlo, Maruja Mallo and Fura dels Baus.
